How to Play Pillar Checkers Duel

Pillar Checkers Duel is played on a standard 8x8 checkerboard with an added vertical dimension: pillars. Each player starts with 12 pieces on the dark squares of their closest three rows.

  • Movement: Pieces can only move diagonally forward one square to an unoccupied dark square.

  • Jumping: If a player's piece is diagonally adjacent to an opponent's piece, and there is an unoccupied square directly behind the opponent's piece, the player must jump over the opponent's piece, removing it from the board. Multiple jumps are allowed in a single turn if available.

  • Pillar Jumping: Pieces can jump to the top of pillars. If an opponents piece is on top of a pillar that you can jump to, you are able to capture it.

  • Crowning: When a piece reaches the opposite side of the board, it is "crowned" and becomes a "King." Kings can move diagonally in any direction (forward or backward) one square at a time.

  • Winning: The game is won when one player captures all of the opponent's pieces or blocks the opponent so that they cannot make any legal moves.
